I take this opportunity to warmly welcome you and your family to our school. We hope this is the beginning of a long and lasting association with Mother of Good Counsel School. We are here to support you as the first educators of your child and trust you always feel welcome here, as we work together for the well-being and education of children. Let us plan for our time to be spent in co-operation, collaboration and mutual support.
At Mother of Good Counsel, we base our work on Gospel values, in particular, that everything we do be based on the foundation of love (1 Corinthians 16:14). We hold these values to be the most important personal, spiritual and emotional aspects of a child’s development, which, combined with a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum, helps each child develop individual abilities and become an integrated and successful student.
Each child and parent wishing to enrol at Mother of Good Counsel are expected to uphold the values of the school. All children participate in the Religious Education program and agree to become an active contributor to this community of learners. Parent involvement is considered a key element in maintaining a positive approach to educational, social and behavioural expectations. We encourage you to participate in all aspects of school life by contributing your initiative, energy, time and expertise.
At Mother of Good Counsel School, we endeavour to nurture the development of the whole child – academically, physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We believe in fostering a safe, inclusive and authentic learning community in which children can develop a sense of belonging and wellbeing.
With our strong focus on social emotional learning our students are provided with language and a framework for building respectful relationships, effective communication, and personal and social responsibility. Our Positive Relationship and Behaviour Plan, fosters healthy relationships between students, staff and families through pastoral care and the promotion of social and emotional well-being. Self-regulation is encouraged, as is respect and the rights of others.
Our professional and dedicated staff are committed to continually improving their skills and knowledge and utilise their expertise to create learning programs which cater for the individual needs of students. Student engagement and learning is enhanced by the variety of extra-curricular activities on offer.
